About
Meg O’Connell is an International Emmy® Award winning producer. She’s company director at Unless Pictures where most recently she co-created, wrote and produced the 6 x 22 min show RETROGRADE for ABC TV (Australia) in the midst of lockdown. The series is set entirely at an online bar. Meg is currently developing the 10 x 5 min vertical series APOLLO for Snapchat, co-created with long-time collaborator Anna Barnes who also wrote the 7 x 10 vertical series CONTENT, which Meg produced. CONTENT was set on a mobile phone and was the first of its kind to be made in Australia. Meg was the development manager on the International Emmy® Award winning animation BLUEY which screens worldwide on Disney+. Meg produced the International Emmy® Award-winning series DOODLES, which features multimedia integration of live action and animation, as well as the 6 x 10 ROBBIE HOOD, which won an Australian Academy Award. She is interested in finding new ways of telling new and old stories.

What exactly do you do and why?
I’m a producer and writer for screen. I’m not sure exactly why yet. I think largely because television can be such an effective way of communicating ideas, and because it’s such a collaborative medium.
What is your unique perspective or superpower?
Genuinely interested in collaboration. Ability to be wrong. Communicating a vision!
